Francis Eugene “Gene” Langfeldt, 77, of Loveland, formerly of Denver and Castle Rock, peacefully passed away on April 2, 2017. Gene was born on July 6, 1939 in Sioux City, Iowa. He attended grade school at St. Patrick’s Catholic in McCook, Nebraska. Gene graduated McCook High School lettering in basketball, football, track and also served on the Student Council. He went on to attend Notre Dame for two years & graduated from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Gene was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity while at the University of Nebraska, and he later served in the Army & Air Force National Guard.
Gene was a strong proponent of business aviation, and from 2007 to 2014 was an aircraft broker with Wetzel Aviation of Centennial, Colorado. During this time he was also a volunteer and board member of CABA, where he was active in legislative issues, helping to generate interest in a general aviation caucus among Colorado legislators. He also believed strongly in attracting young people into the industry, and enthusiastically participated in CABA career-day type events.
Gene's passion, dedication, and wry sense of humor are truly missed by his many friends and colleagues both within and outside of aviation!
