CABA Foundation Scholarships

REVISED CRITERIA and HIGHER AMOUNTS

The CABA Foundation scholarship program provides financial assistance to aspiring and advancing aviation professionals. 


Application Information

ONE (1) CABA Scholarship will be awarded in each of the following categories: 

  1. Professional Pilot 
  2. Aircraft Maintenance/Repair/Avionics Technician — A&P, Avionics 
  3. Professional Development in Aviation Management & Operations — Scheduling & Dispatch, Airport Management, Certified Aviation Manager (CAM), Flight Attendant, or other professional development opportunities approved by the committee/board.

One (1) successful candidate in each category will receive an award of up to $8,000 which will be disbursed directly to the training entity (flight school, etc.).

An initial disbursement will be made upon acceptance of the award, with subsequent disbursements to be made upon completion of certain milestones to be determined by the committee. 

NOTE: Applicants for initial/advanced flight training or cabin crew must include in their essay, which scholarship is being applied for as well as a stated intent to pursue a career pathway to General or Business Aviation (not the airlines). In addition, applicants should indicate their desire to contribute back to the industry through assisting their respective membership organizations with mentoring, public relations, career development events, or other areas as opportunities are presented.

Applications will be assessed for completeness and overall quality, giving weight to the essay and career goals. The scholarship committee may request interviews with applicants.


Application Criteria

The following are required for CABA Foundation scholarships

  • Applicant must be a permanent resident of Colorado. A valid Colorado driver’s license or Colorado ID  is required as proof of residency.
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher, if the applicant is a full time student. If applicant is not a full time student, a resume is required.
  • Scholarship funds must be used for aviation training at a Colorado-based institution, or an AOPA- or NBAA- approved Professional Development course.


Application materials

Submit ALL of the following

  • Completed CABA Scholarship Form (Download CABA Scholarship Form)
  • ONE Essay of 500-600 words on the following Topic: Why do you desire a career in General or Business Aviation? Be specific as to the training you wish to pursue – pilot, maintenance/repair/avionics technician, professional development, etc.)
  • Description of the training program the award will be used for, being as specific as possible. 
  • Two (2) Letters of Reference.
  • A copy of your current resume or transcript.

APPLICATION DEADLINE:  11:59 pm MST Tuesday, December 31, 2024

Applications received after the deadline will be deferred to the 2025 submission period.


Scholarship awards will be presented at the CABA Annual Meeting in early 2025 and 

Recipients will be notified of the details.
